Hey, I’m Taylor!
I’ve wanted to be a birth doula since I was about 5 years old, I just didn’t know there was a word for it until much later in life. When adults would ask me “what do you want to be when you grow up?”, I’d tell them “I want to be a doctor-hairdresser, so that I can help deliver babies and then make the mom feel pretty after the baby is born.” That was my 5-year-old way of describing essential doula work: being a birth worker whose focus is on the parents’ wellbeing.
I’m a Portland native, but have lived in Seattle for almost half my life now. I’ve spent the last 12 years as a mechanical engineer in construction — which means I’m no stranger to making and implementing plans (and backup plans…) and learning how to stay flexible. You’ll see aspects of this show up in how I approach birth: my love for a good schedule and checklist, my science and evidence-based approach, and my steadiness and ability to pivot as plans evolve.
I’ve had two verrrry different births of my own, with support that looked different as well. What I've learned is that the way you remember your birth has less to do with whether everything unfolded as planned and more to do with how you felt throughout the experience. Feeling supported, informed, and confident in your decisions—and finding beauty in the small, meaningful moments—can make your birth feel deeply personal, memorable, and even sacred. My approach to birth is grounded and practical, but I also believe the little details matter. I love helping families dream up the thoughtful details that reflect who they are—small touches that bring comfort, joy, and a sense of wonder. Because feeling safe and well cared for is essential, and sometimes it's those quiet, intentional moments that make a birth feel truly magical.
The heart of my practice:
I believe every family deserves to feel supported, cared for, and deeply seen throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early weeks of welcoming a new baby. Support isn't a luxury—it's an essential part of compassionate, high-quality care.
I also believe there is no single "right" way to give birth. Every family brings their own values, hopes, fears, and circumstances into the birth room, and my role is never to tell you what your birth should look like. Instead, I'm here to help you understand your options, prepare thoughtfully, and make decisions that feel right for you and your baby.
Health and safety will always be my highest priorities, but I believe they encompass more than physical outcomes alone. Feeling informed. Feeling respected. Feeling heard. Feeling emotionally safe. Feeling like your voice mattered. These are all part of a healthy birth experience, too.
I'm passionate about helping parents understand what's happening in their bodies and why certain recommendations are made, so they can approach birth with confidence rather than uncertainty. My goal is never to replace your care team, but to complement it by providing continuous support, evidence-based education, and a calm, steady presence. After all, while your providers bring medical expertise, you are the expert on your own body, your values, and your family.
Finally, I believe that birth is more than a medical event—it's one of life's most profound transitions. It has the power to reshape how you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. That's why I care so deeply about the intentional details: thoughtful preparation, personalized support, a calming environment, and the small moments of connection that make your birth feel uniquely your own. Together, these are the things that help transform birth from something you simply go through into a story you carry with strength, tenderness, and pride.
My role as your doula is to:
be a steady and reassuring presence throughout your pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum
provide emotional and physical support whenever you need it
point you to trusted resources, help you understand your options, answer questions, and offer practical guidance as you prepare for birth and adjust to life with your new baby
